About Saroj Enterprise

Forty years of steel trade. One family that still answers the phone.

We are an Ahmedabad-based stockist and supplier of alloy, carbon, tool and die steel — bars, forgings and cut pieces, every consignment ultrasonically tested and certified. Three generations of the same family stand behind that promise, in a market where most of our work still travels by word of mouth.

Our story

A trade learned the long way — yard by yard, bar by bar.

The story of Saroj Enterprise starts in 1985, when Mayank Patel first stepped into Ahmedabad's steel trade. Long before there was a company, there was a young man walking through stockyards, learning to tell EN8 from EN19 by the marking on a bar, learning which mills could be trusted and which couldn't, and learning that in this business your name travels faster than your trucks.

Five years later, in 1990, the three brothers — Mayank, Kalpesh and Gautam Patel — came together to formalise the business and founded Saroj Enterprise out of a small office in Ahmedabad. The plan was simple: stock the engineering and alloy steel grades local machine shops actually needed, hold enough on the shelf to dispatch quickly, and let the certificate speak for itself. Mayankbhai's trade experience anchored the buying, while Kalpeshbhai and Gautambhai built up operations and customer relationships from day one.

Over the years that followed, we did what serious stockists do: moved into a proper plot in GIDC Kathwada, built up a working stock of more than 400 tonnes, and put automatic precision saws on the floor so customers could get bars cut exactly to their dispatch sizes. We invested in our own ultrasonic testing equipment — and brought it under ASNT Level II competence — because no buyer of EN31 bearing steel or large EN24 shafting should have to take "trust me, the material is sound" on faith.

Today, the next generation is coming into the business. Ansh Patel is reading materials engineering at the University of Alberta in Canada, learning the metallurgy that sits behind every grade we sell. The combination — four decades of trade, plus a new pair of eyes that knows the science from first principles — is exactly what we want to bring to our customers.

We are still a family business. The people you speak to on the phone are the people whose name is on the door. That is unusual in steel, and we intend to keep it that way.

What we stand for

Vision, mission, values.

A small business does not need a big slogan. It needs to be clear about what it will and will not do.

Vision

The most trusted steel stockist in Gujarat for engineering, tooling and fabrication customers.

Not the largest, not the cheapest — the one engineers reach for when the part actually matters, because they know the bar is what the certificate says it is.

Mission

Supply sound, certified steel — quickly, in the size you need, with paperwork that holds up.

Deep ready stock across alloy, carbon and tool steel. In-house ultrasonic testing to ASTM A388. Precision cutting on automatic saws. Material Test and UT certificates with every consignment.

Honest material

Every bar is what the test certificate says it is. We screen in-house so there is no daylight between what we ship and what you machine.

Traceability over talk

MTC and UT reports on every order. If a part ever needs explaining, the paperwork is already in your hands — not still being chased.

Speed without shortcuts

Ready stock and precision cutting on the same floor. Quotations the same day, dispatch as soon as the cut is complete.

Depth, not breadth

We sell what we know inside out: alloy, carbon, tool and die steel as bar and forging. We would rather say "let me find that for you" than guess.

Modern metallurgy, classic trade

Four decades of trade instinct, plus formal materials-engineering training in the next generation. Old discipline, new tools.

Pick up the phone

The partners answer the phone themselves. There is no call centre. If something goes wrong, you speak to the people who can fix it.

Leadership

The people behind every order.

Family-run since day one. Each partner owns a piece of the work, and you will end up speaking to all of them eventually.

Founder & Managing Partner

Mayank Patel

One of the three founders of Saroj Enterprise. Mayankbhai entered the Ahmedabad steel trade in 1985, and in 1990 he joined with his brothers Kalpesh and Gautam to establish the company. He is the technical anchor of the business — the one who picks suppliers, calls grades, and decides what gets accepted into stock. The choice to bring ultrasonic testing in-house was his, and it is still the thing he is most proud of.

Partner · Operations & Sales
Partner — Operations & Sales

Kalpesh Patel

Co-founder of Saroj Enterprise, in the business from the day it was registered in 1990. Kalpeshbhai runs the day-to-day: quotations, scheduling, the cutting floor and dispatch all sit on his desk. If material moved today, he had a hand in it. He is the partner customers reach for on a tight deadline, because he is the one who can promise a date and keep it — and he is just as comfortable on the saw floor as he is on the phone, which is why the schedule actually holds together.

Partner · Customers & Logistics
Partner — Customer Relationships & Logistics

Gautam Patel

Co-founder of Saroj Enterprise, in the business since 1990. Gautambhai handles long-running customer relationships and the in-house delivery side of the business — he is the partner who remembers what grade you bought last year, which size you usually cut to, and how you like the paperwork sent. He treats every customer as a relationship to keep, not a transaction to close, and the fact that we still ship in our own vehicles, on time, is mostly down to him.

Ansh Patel

The next generation, now joining the family business. Ansh is reading Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta in Canada, and is learning the trade from the warehouse floor up — bringing modern metallurgy to bear on a forty-year family business.

Infrastructure

A yard built for cutting, testing and dispatch — not just storage.

Saroj Enterprise operates out of a dedicated industrial plot in GIDC Kathwada, one of Ahmedabad's main engineering clusters. The setup is designed so that material arrives, is verified, cut to size and dispatched without ever needing to leave the premises — which is the single biggest reason we can quote, cut and ship quickly.

Why customers trust us

Six reasons we keep getting the second order.

No tricks, no hype. These are the things buyers tell us back, in their own words, after their first job.

40 years of trade experience

Mayank Patel has been buying and selling steel since 1985. That depth shows up in supplier choice, grade calls and material that simply does not get rejected at incoming inspection.

In-house ultrasonic testing

ASTM A388 UT screening on our own equipment, under ASNT Level II competence. We are one of the few stockists who verify internal soundness before dispatch — not after.

Full certification

Material Test Certificate plus a UT pass report shipped with every consignment. Your incoming inspection has the paperwork before the bar lands.

Precision cutting on site

Five automatic CNC saws cutting round, square and hex up to 600 mm. Your blanks arrive sized for production, not for the saw shop.

Quick quotation & dispatch

Quotations the same day on stocked grades, with cut-and-dispatch turned around as quickly as the saw clears. Our own vehicles do the last mile.

The partners answer the phone

There is no call centre. If you are buying steel from us, you are speaking to one of the three partners, by name. That accountability is the whole point.

Frequently asked

Questions buyers actually ask us.

How long has Saroj Enterprise been in the steel business?

The company was registered in 1990 in Ahmedabad. Our founder, Mayank Patel, has been personally active in the steel trade since 1985 — which means that on any order we ship, there is forty years of hands-on trade experience standing behind the grade call, the supplier and the certificate.

What grades of steel do you stock?

We hold a deep working stock across alloy, carbon, tool and die steel — including EN8, EN9, C45, EN19 (4140), EN24 (4340), EN31 (52100), EN36C, EN353, SAE 8620, 20MnCr5, D2, D3, H11, H13, P20, S7, DB6 and OHNS — as round, square, hex and flat bar, plus forged round bars. Other grades and sizes are available on request.

What makes you different from other steel stockists in Ahmedabad?

Three things. First, in-house ultrasonic testing to ASTM A388 under ASNT Level II competence — we verify internal soundness on our own equipment, not third-party. Second, precision cutting up to 600 mm on five automatic CNC saws, so material reaches you sized for production. Third, every consignment ships with both an MTC and a UT pass report. That combination is unusual in the Ahmedabad stockist market.

Are you a family business?

Yes. The three brothers — Mayank, Kalpesh and Gautam Patel — founded Saroj Enterprise together in 1990 and have run it as a family partnership ever since. The next generation, including Ansh Patel, who is studying Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta in Canada, is now joining the business and bringing formal metallurgical training to bear on day-to-day decisions.

Where is your warehouse and what areas do you serve?

Our facility is at Plot No. 291, Road No. 4, GIDC Kathwada, Ahmedabad – 382430, Gujarat. We dispatch across Gujarat in our own vehicles and supply industrial customers throughout India by road transport.

Do you offer custom cut sizes?

Yes, this is one of our core services. We cut round, square and hex bar to your exact dispatch sizes on five automatic CNC saws, up to a cutting capacity of 600 mm. Share your grade, diameter, length and quantity and we will quote cut-and-supply together.

How quickly can you supply?

For grades and sizes held in our 400+ tonne ready stock, we can typically quote the same day and dispatch as soon as cutting is complete. For non-stock items or large sections, we will give you a realistic date when we quote — and stick to it.

Need a grade, a size, a quotation?

Share your requirement — we'll get back to you fast, with paperwork that holds up.
