Tool steel, die steel, bearing grades — the technical end.

Industrial machinery, plant equipment and tool rooms operate at the technical end of our customer base. Steel choice matters disproportionately here — a die that lasts three hundred thousand strokes versus three thousand is the difference between a profitable run and a write-off. We carry the cold-work, hot-work and shock-resisting tool steels, the bearing grades and the high-tensile alloys that machine builders specify.

How we work with machinery customers

The technical buyer's stockist.

Machinery customers — machine builders, tool rooms, die-makers, plant equipment manufacturers — are the most technical buyers we deal with. The conversation isn't usually about price per kilo; it's about which grade will give the die three times the run-life, or whether H11 or H13 is the better fit for an aluminium die-casting application, or what hardness P20 actually supplies at when you machine the mould.

We hold the working range of tool and die steel that makes those conversations possible. Cold-work grades (D2, D3, OHNS, S7) for blanking, forming, cutting and impact tooling. Hot-work grades (H11, H13) for die-casting, hot extrusion and forging. P20 pre-hardened for plastic moulds. DB6 for forging die blocks. Plus EN31 bearing steel for machine bearings and rollers, and the through-hardening alloy range for plant shafts.

Cut to die-block sizes on five automatic CNC saws up to 600 mm. UT-tested where applicable. MTC and UT documentation with every consignment. The toolmaker starts on the work that pays, not on the saw.

Blanking & forming dies

Cold-work tool steel for the dies that produce sheet-metal parts in volume — wear resistance and edge retention are everything.

Die-casting & extrusion dies

Hot-work tool steel for aluminium die-casting dies, hot-extrusion tooling and forging dies. Heat checking and thermal fatigue resistance matter most.

Plastic injection moulds

Pre-hardened mould steel for injection moulds — supplied at 28–34 HRC, ready to machine into the mould cavity directly.

Forging dies & die blocks

Heavy-duty Ni-Cr-Mo-V die-block steel for drop-forging and press-forging dies. High toughness through large sections.

Punches & shear blades

Shock-resisting and cold-work tool steel for punches, chisels, shear blades and other impact-loaded tooling.

Machine bearings & rollers

Bearing steel for machine spindles, rollers, cam followers and high-precision wear parts.

Plant shafts & spindles

High-tensile through-hardening alloy bar for machine spindles and plant equipment shafts. Often supplied in long sections.

Cutting tools & reamers

OHNS supplied to tool rooms for general cutting tools, taps, reamers and small precision tooling.

What's the difference between H11 and H13?

Both are chromium hot-work tool steels. H13 has slightly higher vanadium content, which gives it marginally higher hot hardness and better wear resistance — making it the default for aluminium die-casting dies and hot-extrusion tooling. H11 is slightly tougher, which makes it the better choice for dies that take heavier shock or impact loading. For most general hot-work applications, H13 is the safer specification.

When should I use D2 vs D3 for a blanking die?

D2 is air-hardening, distorts less in heat treatment, and contains molybdenum and vanadium for better toughness. D3 is oil-hardening, higher carbon, more wear-resistant on paper but less tough — and lower cost. For high-volume blanking runs where dimensional stability matters, D2 is usually worth the premium. For lower-volume work or wear-dominated applications, D3 remains the Indian tool-room workhorse.

Do you supply pre-hardened P20 ready to machine?

Yes. P20 is supplied at 28–34 HRC (typically around 300 HB) — machine directly into the mould cavity, no further heat treatment required. This is one of P20's biggest practical advantages: no distortion risk after the mould is cut.

Can you supply die blocks in the sizes I need?

Yes. We cut to die-block sizes on five automatic CNC saws up to 600 mm cutting capacity. Tell us the block dimensions on your inquiry — we'll cut, certify and dispatch as a single consignment.

Do you provide technical advice on grade selection?

Yes. Share the application — what the tool is, how it's loaded, how many cycles you need, what's failing on your current grade — and we'll come back with options and trade-offs. Four decades of supplying Indian tool rooms gives us a reasonable view on what actually works in practice.
